Our pick of what to watch this week, plus the best podcasts and new books…

Last week, Dancing on Ice got off to a cracking start, with the first six celebrities, including Corrie star Sally Dynevor and former Strictly pro Brendan Cole, performing on the ice for the first time. In this week’s second show, six more stars make their debut on the ice. Among them is rugby player Ben Foden, who’s been partnered with skating pro Robin Johnstone.

What made you want to take part in Dancing On Ice?

I always like the challenge of learning a new sport or a new skill set. I’m quite competitive as well, so I like the challenge of competing against others doing something that

I’m not necessarily good at.

Are you nervous about performing on the ice for the first time?

Not really. I haven’t really thought about it enough to get the jitters yet, but ask me again before we go live!

How are you feeling about some of the trickier skating moves?

I want to get to a point where I’m comfortable skating on the ice – backwards, forwards, whatever they want me to do. I don’t want to just skate around doing the easy moves. I think people are going to expect me to do a lot more than that and I expect it of myself as well.

Do you think you can be graceful as well? I’d like to think so, because looking graceful, making things look a lot easier than they are and smiling throughout a routine is a big part of this.

It sounds like being competitive is in your DNA, can we assume you’re in it to win it? Yes! The thing is I’ve done two reality shows before. One was the SAS: Who Dares Wins, which I didn’t finish and The X Factor: Celebrity, where we came fourth, so

I need to start winning!
