Help – my new boss is such a creep!

-

Q There’s been a new boss appointed at work and he has a real reputation for wandering hands – and indeed more. We’re now a few days in and I have a horrible feeling that he’s marked me out for attention. But nothing has yet happened that I could report him for and I do want to get on with him as much as possible. So can you advise me on how I can stop him making a pass at me when I really have no interest and am happily married? It’s really worrying me.

SUSAN A SAYS You deserve to feel safe and supported at work. I suggest you keep your distance from this man – both physically and emotionally. Avoid standing close to him and keep smiles and laughs to a minimum. Instead, stay professional and formal – even using his surname (‘Mr Smith’) rather than his first name. If your boss ever acts in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, talk to your employer – they have a duty of care towards you and should take complaints of sexual harassment very seriously.
