‘I’VE ALWAYS HAD A HIGH SEX DRIVE’

-

Caroline, 62, lives in Cardiff with her partner Dean, 63.

Sitting down with a coffee, I made eye contact with the handsome man across the room. He stood out among the other fuddy-duddies.

And while a bereavement group may not sound like the perfect place to pick up a partner, a cheeky wink let me know he was up for a bit of fun.

When my husband of 35 years passed away from pancreatic cancer in December 2015, of course I was devastated. We’d been together since I was 18 and had five children.

But I knew he would want me to move on and be happy. It took time, but soon I felt ready to be intimate again.

I’ve always had a high sex drive. My first child was born in 1985 and my husband and I were back in bed within a week. After five children I had loose skin, stretch marks and saggier boobs, but I accepted them. We introduced role play and I’d dress up as a naughty nurse, having sex a few times a week.

So when I became a widow at 55, I was determined not to bury my sex life.

I went out dancing and pulled men 20 years younger than me. It was just sex, and having fun helped me move forward with my life.

So, in 2016, after making eyes at the man in my bereavement group, I felt confident making the first move.

Dean, then 57, had recently lost his wife of more than two decades. I invited him salsa dancing, and when he suggested a trip to his caravan in Mumbles, I let him know I’d be packing my sexy underwear.

Dean was delighted when I introduced him to my kinky wardrobe. I regularly dress up as a police officer with handcuffs, and I even have a crotchless fishnet body stocking.

There are times when I suffer from aches and pains, or low energy, but having sex lifts my mood. We use lube and toys to help things along, and I’m honest about what I like.

Sex in my 60s is fun and keeps me young, and I don’t think I’ll ever be too old for it.
