Prince Andrew’s spectacula­r fall from grace may yet come as a blessing in disguise for his daughters Beatrice (right) and Eugenie. The princesses were facing the prospect of a lifetime of royal duty before their father became public enemy number one.

The pressure of royal engagement­s meant the York sisters may have been expected to step up to the plate. But it seems unlikely now that their duties will extend beyond appearing on the balcony for official family gatherings.

Now they can both focus on their own families and live a life away from the scrutiny that befell their parents.
