WHAT SCAMS ARE OUT THERE NOW?
✱ From the ‘Post Office’ Be aware of text messages from the Post Office or other delivery services asking you to reschedule a delivery or for payment for a package. Keep an eye out for poor grammar and obscure web links.
✱ From a ‘bank’ or ‘HMRC’ Your bank will never ask for personal information, such as your full PIN or passwords, or ask you to transfer money into a ‘safe’ account. If in doubt, call them using the number on the back of your card.
✱ From ‘your friends’ Many social-media accounts are being hacked. Beware of messages from ‘friends’ asking you for money.
✱ Covid-19-related messages Pay attention if you get a text or email promising money as pandemic relief, or for details to get a vaccination pass.
