IS THE QUEEN ABOUT TO SNUB HARRY AND MEGHAN?

-

William and Kate are secretly house hunting and considering a very generous offer from the Queen. Sources say the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are desperate to move out of the ‘claustrophobic’ confines of Apartment 1A of Kensington Palace, their principal family home since 2014.

They have already found a school in the Home Counties for Prince George and are looking to make a permanent move away from London.

So how could anyone get tired of living in a 20-room, four-storey apartment beloved by Princess Margaret and boasting five reception rooms, three bedrooms, a night and day nursery, staff quarters

– oh, and underfloor heating?

Well, insist insiders, the answer may be a little more straightforward than you think. Sources tell me that the Queen has offered her grandson the use of one of her finest homes in Windsor Home Park, and has already reportedly given the couple a recent tour inside.

William and Kate are now said to be considering whether the splendid Frogmore House, which is less than half a mile from

Her Majesty’s home at Windsor Castle, may just prove ideal for their family.

Built in the 1600s, the Grade 1-listed mansion has ample space for staff, is within walking distance of Windsor Castle and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The palatial décor might be a bit over the top for the couple’s taste, but Frogmore House does tick many of the boxes the future king and his wife are yearning for.

It is currently unoccupied, was used by the Queen and Prince Philip over the years for receptions and official functions, and has been kept in immaculate condition.

But, as is so often the case when young families relocate, there is a catch. If the Cambridges were to move in, they would instantly go one better than Harry and Meghan. When the Sussexes married, they were only offered Frogmore House’s modest cottage, which was built on the Frogmore estate in 1801.

I’m not sure Harry and Meghan would take too kindly to being viewed as the ‘poor relations’ should they ever feel the need to pop back to their UK home. And the thought of the bitterly divided brothers being neighbours once again is probably enough to persuade William and Kate to continue the search for their next home.
