EAT SEASONALLY

-

Tempted by all the chocolate in the shops? It won’t help your waistline. Plus, a diet lacking in fresh, nutritious ingredients can leave you prone to illness and fatigue. Luckily, there’s heaps of seasonal spring vegetables like asparagus, spinach, cauliflower, purple sprouting broccoli, spring greens and watercress, making it easier to hit your recommended five-a-day. ‘Spring is a great time for eating light, veg-packed soups, stir-fries and warm salads,’ says nutritionist Fiona Hunter.

✱ Steam your veg: Cooking this way will retain more of their nutrients. Also, don’t peel vegetables such as new potatoes as many of the nutrients, like fibre, are found in the skin.
