Burger withdrawal

-

I was on a school trip to Moscow as the first Mcdonald’s opened in 1990, but we couldn’t get a burger because of the endless queues. (There was no food in the shops.) Now there are 850 branches, but the queues were just as long after the burger giant – the very icon of the post-soviet era – announced the closure of its outlets in Russia.

With Russians fearing they may never see another Big Mac, every Drive Thru was rammed. So will burger withdrawal symptoms push the people to revolt against Putin? We can but hope.
