IS THE RIFT THAWING?

-

Has Mother’s Day sparked the beginning of the end of the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry? Sources say the warring brothers spoke for the ‘first time in ages’ on a day they traditionally would always remember their late mother together.

If true, this will raise hopes within the walls of the palace that the ice between them is finally thawing.

It comes as Harry was widely criticised for refusing to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service while sticking with his plan to host the Invictus Games in the Netherlands towards the end of April.

William is understood to have reached out to his brother, likely a showdown given what’s gone before – despite the fact Mothering Sunday is not celebrated in America until the start of May.

What they may have talked about is not known, although in the past both William and Harry have spoken about how hard they find the annual nod to mothers everywhere.

Since they each became fathers, the boys have found great comfort in being able to use Mother’s Day as an excuse to talk about Diana with the grandchildren she never met.

There’s little doubt that family-focused Diana would have loved getting to know her five grandchildren if history had been different.

At the very least, the memory of their mother and the feelings of hurt are a bond that her sons will always have in common.

Relations between the Sussex and Cambridge camps appear to have reached a stalemate while the royals brace for what might be included in Harry’s upcoming tell-all memoir, not to mention his deal with Spotify where he is expected to bleat about life inside the Royal Family.

While their relationship will perhaps take years to mend given the ‘truth bombs’ and accusations thrown – there is a glimmer of hope that the boys can rekindle the close relationship they once had. Something I am sure everyone wants.

Let’s hope they keep talking and the chance for them all to meet up and talk isn’t wasted.
