After the end of hit comedy series Little Britain, David focused on his writing career and is a hugely successful children’s author, having sold 37 million copies of his books worldwide. But his public image has undoubtedly been boosted by being a panellist on Britain’s Got Talent, a position he has held since 2012. TV presenter Stephen Mulhern, who used to work on sister show Britain’s Got More Talent, said, ‘David is so good with the talent who come in. He’s very sympathetic because he understands how hard it is to get up on stage with your material and perform.’ Despite their theatrical love/hate relationship, Simon’s decision to appoint David as a regular judge on the hit show ensures David has mass appeal.
