Cuckmere Haven, Sussex
The coastline doesn’t get more impressive than the white Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, which rise from the pebble beach at Cuckmere Haven. The shoreline, which sits at the mouth of the Cuckmere river, offers the kind of peace and quiet you might not find in neighbouring towns Rye and Eastbourne. It’s part of the wider Cuckmere Haven reserve, home to a wealth of wildlife, including skylarks, kestrels and teals, as well as flowers that thrive on the specialised chalk grassland ecosystem. The South Downs National Park is close by for walks and has breathtaking views.
