THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED

7pm: Madeleine has a bedtime story and falls asleep, with her twin siblings in a travel cot next to her bed. 8.30pm: Kate and Gerry leave the groundfloor bedroom, with the windows closed, shutters down and the door ajar.

9.05pm: Gerry checks on the kids, finding all three asleep – although the door is positioned slightly differently to how it was left.

9.15pm: Jane Tanner, who was dining with the Mccanns, checks on her own children and notices a man carrying a child – later thought to be a British holidaymaker carrying his own sleeping daughter from a creche. 9.30pm: Matthew Oldfield, another diner, returns from checking on both his and the Mccann children, stating everything was fine.

10pm: Kate goes to the apartment and finds the window open, shutters up and Madeleine gone.
