1 Thessaloniki

To reach Halkidiki, you’ll likely fly into Thessaloniki – Greece’s second largest city. Take some time to enjoy the centre’s 15 World Heritage sites, incredible museums and cosmopolitan vibe. The city’s setting on the seafront is enticing, too. Come lunchtime, head for the impressive Aristotelous Square, then, by the must-see White Tower – a monument and museum on the waterfront – discover cocktail bars and a fab cafe culture.

2 Peloponnese region

Soaring mountains, beautiful beaches, a thriving wine industry and an enviable historical past – do you need any more reasons to visit the Peloponnese? It’s also home to Olympia, the site of the first ancient Olympic Games. It’s also no surprise that there are some beautiful hotels in the region, with outstanding sea views.

3 Athens

Greece’s capital city has to be seen. There’s the world-famous Acropolis – the striking ancient citadel. Scale to the top to enjoy the most spectacular views. Afterwards, head for Koukaki, a district with hip bars, quirky cafes, boutique shops and charming museums. Athens is also home to cultural hub the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. If you’re craving clear waters and island life, take a day trip to the bohemian island, Hydra.
