WHY WILLIAM AND KATE ARE READY FOR BABY NUMBER FOUR

-

Friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are convinced the happy couple are brooding for a new addition to the family. In fact, people close to William and Kate insist the couple’s desire to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet again may just have been pushed over the edge. The arrival of Kate’s sister Pippa’s third baby will probably be – they tell me – the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

I believe Kate has already made a dash to cradle her newest niece, who is thought to have been born in the same hospital wing as her own children. One source even went as far as to say the clues are obvious, commenting, ‘Maybe there’s just something in the water – but William and Kate seem to be rather broody these days.’

He might just be right.

Public displays of affection (PDAS) by senior members of the Royal Family were extremely rare until recently. For example, Prince Charles prefers the true gentleman look, rather than doting husband. And he is like a gushy teenager in comparison to his parents…

The Queen and Prince Philip may have been married for 73 years, but you could almost count the number of times they showed a PDA on the fingers of one hand.

In the past few months, though, it seems William and Kate are struggling to keep their hands off each other while out and about in the spotlight. We’ve watched them cuddle, kiss, and walk hand in hand as a couple. And we can see the Cambridges’ affection is infectious. During the Jubilee, the kids even joined the love-in, with hugs and kisses for George, Charlotte and Louis throughout the whole weekend.

There have been rumours Kate may be hoping for baby number four, and they certainly don’t look like a couple who’ve flogged the baby clothes at a boot fair just yet. They’re clearly a very tight-knit and secure little family and there’s plenty of room for one more. Whatever happens, the Duke and Duchess of Cuddles are a refreshing break from the era of stiff upper lips and handshakes. So come on Your Highnesses – isn’t it time to share the love with one more?
