While nowhere is cheap in Cornwall in summertime, Penzance proves better value than most places. This Cornish city is well-placed for outings, too. Visit the clifftop Minack Theatre for a night under the stars. Head down to Land’s End or to St Michael’s Mount, accessible at low tide, for sunsets. Get fish and chips in St Ives, or take the kids to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek. Back in town, have a wander down historic Chapel Street. Don’t miss a dip in the Jubilee Pool, an Art Deco lido, before a coffee in the cafe.
