‘99’ problems

The future of Mr Whippy ice-cream vans is ‘at breaking point’ because of the soaring cost of diesel. Sellers are also being asked to turn off their engines because of the fumes. (Fair enough, except it means the ice-cream melts.) This could mean they’ll soon be stocking soft-scoop all the way – which is just rubbish because that’s what we’ve got at home, and it doesn’t work with a ‘99’. The answer? Electric ice-cream vans! The problem? They cost up to £180,000. Boo!
