Plant spring bulbs
Plant your spring bulbs before winter sets in. From daffodils to crocus, they grow best in well-fertilised, free-draining soil, so dig in sharp sand and some bonemeal for slow releasing nutrients. The general rule when planting bulbs is to plant at two or three times the depth of the bulb. Spacing also works well at two or three times the width of the bulb. For a natural and dramatic effect plant the same variety in large drifts. And don’t forget to plant some in pots so you can enjoy them indoors, too.
