Dancing on ice
Sometimes, in nature, animals do things just for fun.
I loved the extraordinary sequence in Frozen Planet II, in which two young polar bears started chasing each other, skidding around and even – according to Sir David Attenborough – ‘dancing on ice’. It’s like they knew they should have been hunting or resting, but wanted a bit of a laugh. It was strangely moving to see them larking around and then, after three hours together, going back to their ‘solitary lives’ again.
