He once had a squeaky-clean image but a knee injury in 2014 saw I’m a Celebrity… co-host Ant Mcpartlin fall into a drug addiction. Three years later, Ant, who turns 47 this week, reached breaking point and checked himself into rehab, saying, ‘I was at the point where anything – prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs – I would take. And take them with alcohol, which is ridiculous… The doctors told me, “You could have killed yourself.”’ Two months of rehab saw Ant tackle his addiction to prescription drugs but just a year later he was at the centre of another scandal. After splitting from his then wife Lisa Armstrong, 46, Ant crashed into another vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol. ‘I was taken away in a police van,’ he said of the incident, in which a child in the other car was taken to hospital as a precaution. ‘I was in a cell for a long time. I failed the breath test. It was horrific.’ He was fined £86,000 – nothing considering his reported £41,000-a-week salary – and banned from driving for 20 months. He’s now clean, and back on our screens.
