Are they too young?
QMy granddaughter has been seeing a boy since sixth form and they have just begun university. They are both convinced they will marry and I’m sure they are sincere, but I’m worried they’re setting themselves up for disappointment. How can I help them not have their hearts broken?
SUZIE SAYS
AThere is no test to tell if there will be a happily ever after. Some people grow apart having had a brilliant partnership, while for others, the growth and changes that happen over a lifetime only deepen the connection between them. What you can do is to respect and support their choices, and encourage them to always share experiences, thoughts and feelings. And to understand that if their relationship does peter out, they will survive. Setbacks in love and life are not failures, but the process in which we build resilience.
