Party feet
Bunions are, at best, inconvenient and, at worst, seriously painful – more than 15% of women in the UK suffer from them*. Fortunately, Kumar Kunasingam, bunion specialist at London’s Schoen Clinic, is here to help you find a suitably smart but comfortable pair of heels for any upcoming Christmas parties.
‘Bunions are not necessarily caused by footwear, but they can be made more painful by narrow shoes,’ he says. ‘There are broader, bunion-specific shoes out there, and for ultimate relief, trainers or soft fabric pumps are best. But if you do want to wear a heel, keep it low, and opt for wedges that spread pressure through the foot, or mules, which often have a lower heel and an open toe design.’
