-

Food inflation has hit an all-time high with families looking to fork out around £700 more a year on groceries. This also means your Christmas grub is going to cost you a lot more. But you can trim the costs both in the run up to the big day and on your festive shop itself.

Get more bang for your buck with these free apps for money off and free stuff.

Trolley (trolley.co.uk/app) claims to save you around 30% on a weekly shop by comparing prices across 15 supermarkets. From cheese to your favourite treats, Trolley will let you know where to buy it the cheapest.

Shopmium (shopmium.com/uk) gives you weekly offers and freebies at various supermarkets; you can bag anything from free chocolates to money off cleaning products.
