Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is a great festive tune. But that doesn’t give her the right to trademark herself as the Queen of Christmas. So well done to singer Elizabeth Chan – who’s released a festive record every year for a decade – who issued the legal challenge that stopped her. ‘Christmas is for everyone,’ Elizabeth says. ‘It’s meant to be shared; it’s not meant to be owned.’ Quite right, too.
