Hi Davina! So what’s the format for The Davina Hour?
It’s free-form conversation between a panel of people who have something to say about a different subject every week – things like happiness, perfectionism, parenthood. We talk about our own experiences.
Do you get stuck in too?
Yes! I hardly do any pieces to camera. I talk to the guests. I love when you can get into something and get into the nitty-gritty of it. I was brought up in a family where Sunday lunch was sacrosanct, but there was always a really heated debate. I love that.
In one episode you discuss social media. Do you think it’s a good or bad thing?
I love Instagram. I follow my girlfriends, my Garnier babes, women in the business. I think Fearne Cotton looks so utterly beautiful at the moment, I don’t know if it’s being a mother. I love Holly Willoughby’s clothes, I check out what she’s wearing every day, and Edith Bowman, too.
Is there anything you dislike about your own appearance?
Nothing! I’ve spent long moments of my life disliking things about myself. A girlfriend of mine wanted to get a nose job done, but it was what made her beautiful. Having said that, Toyah Willcox has spoken about her facelift and I think she just looks fantastic. So I would never say never! But right now, no.
You’re very honest. Is there anything you don’t like to talk about publicly?
I don’t tell embarrassing stories about the children. When I wrote Lessons I’ve
Learned, I let Holly and Tilly read it and I said, ‘Anything you feel uncomfortable with, you can take it out.’ It was important to me that I didn’t spill some massive secret.
