‘My hairstyle hasn’t changed much in over 30 years’

-

Mum-of-two Simone Liebman, a 49-year-old housewife living in Essex, says her hair makes her look like she’s straight from the 80s. Although I’m starting to feel apprehensive about turning 50, at least nobody has ever jumped out of their skin when they’ve seen my face after spotting me from behind.

Not an option

From the back, I think I look as though I’ve walked straight out the 1980s when perms were all the rage, although my curly hair is completely natural. I always hold up a mirror to check that my hair and clothes look good from behind before I leave the house. My hairstyle hasn’t changed much in over 30 years, apart from having a fringe back then. When I turned 40 a few people suggested it was time I had it chopped, but I know from having short hair in my teens that it wouldn’t suit me.

Great genes

I don’t think I look younger, but I do hope I look good for my age. I’ve got great genes from my parents and am 5ft 8in tall and a size 10. The only exercise I do apart from walking the dog is the occasional yoga class. By day I dress casually in jeans, shirts and trainers or Converse boots, and for occasion wear I shop at Ted Baker or Karen Millen and tend to buy fitted dresses. Having a 23-year-old daughter who’s very on trend helps me to know where my fashion boundaries are and I dress for my age, usually keeping hemlines on or below my knee, for example.
