Since winning The Great British Bake Off in 2015, Nadiya Hussain has written five cookery books, presented a host of TV shows and writes a weekly newspaper column.

The busy mum-of-three has hardly had time to pause, which is why she’s the perfect person to share her tips on how to create easy and hassle-free favourites that can be enjoyed by the whole family in her new BBC2 series Nadiya’s Family Favourites. ‘We get bogged down because

we’re all

so time-poor,’ says Nadiya, who’s been married to her husband Abdal for 14 years and is mum to sons Musa, 11, Dawud, 10, and daughter, Maryam, seven. ‘We all have days when we think there’s no food in the house, or when we just don’t have time to spare so feel like we can’t cook.’

With a different theme for each week, including ‘Manic Weekdays’, ‘Nothing In The House’ and ‘People To Stay’,

Nadiya shows viewers how to take the panic out of preparation, whether rustling up food on a school night or catering for a family gathering. In one episode, ‘Family Day Out’, she shares her perfect picnic recipe featuring a samosa pie. ‘My kids absolutely love pies and, this one in particular, I must have made it at least 60 times in the past nine months,’ smiles Nadiya, whose recipes are often inspired by her Bangladeshi roots.

Each week she also meets fellow foodies, starting with a trip to Cornwall, where she learns how to make the perfect Cornish pasty.

‘As a cook I always want to learn,’ says Nadiya, ‘and I like to think that in this series, I’ll be taking viewers with me so we can all learn together.’ ● nadiya’s family favourites starts on BBC2
