‘I love a challenge,’ smiles Cheryl who joins fellow celebs Bobby Davro, Michelle Collins, Joe Swash and comedian Stephen Bailey for a new series of Celebrity Five Go Camping. ‘I knew Bobby before but none of the others. I was sure we’d all have a laugh together and we did!’
As well as learning how to forage for food and build a fire, the five celebs toured the countryside visiting different campsites while trialling different tents.
‘Some of the glamping tents were fabulous but the low point was being asked to sleep in a cardboard tent. It was just horrible!’ says Cheryl, who won Eurovision with Bucks Fizz in 1981. ‘I’m afraid I threw a bit of a strop! And being desperate for the loo in the middle of the night when it was pouring with rain wasn’t great either.’ Cheryl was unperturbed by the abundance of creepy crawlies. ‘I’m totally fine with spiders or even rats or snakes’, says the mum-of-two. ‘They don’t bother me in the slightest but poor Bobby was absolutely terrified. He has a really serious spider phobia!’ Celebrity Five Go Camping is on Channel 5
