My eyes have changed colour!

-

A I woke up this morning and I noticed the whites of my eyes are blood red. I feel totally well in myself but it looks quite alarming. Should I see a doctor? Q What you have sounds like a subconjunctival haemorrhage. They are very common, usually caused by a burst blood vessel in the eye. They can occur spontaneously but straining secondary to constipation or coughing can also cause them. If you have either of these symptoms they will need addressing. It can sometimes also mean your blood isn’t clotting properly, so if you have any other bleeding problems, including easy bruising, see your GP. You should also get your blood pressure checked as high blood pressure can cause a haemorrhage, too.
