Kick-start the year with a pos­i­tive frame of mind – and it doesn’t have to cost you a penny!

1 Get mov­ing

Don’t let the cold, wet weather put you off get­ting out and do­ing some exercise. Try join­ing a Parkrun – these are free, weekly 5km timed runs (parkrun.org.uk) that take place in lo­cal park­land ar­eas, where you’ll get the added ben­e­fit of exercising along­side oth­ers. You can also down­load the free Nike Train­ing Club app (nike.com/gb/en_gb/c/ nike-plus/train­ing-app), which is packed with loads of great in­di­vid­ual work­outs that you can fol­low.

2 Time to chill

Why not use your phone to help you re­duce your stress lev­els? There are fan­tas­tic med­i­ta­tion apps you can down­load, such as Headspace (headspace.com), which of­fers a free 30-day trial so you can en­joy the ben­e­fits of learn­ing the tech­nique with­out hav­ing to shell out any cash.

3 Find your voice

Did you know singing has proven ben­e­fits to make you feel bet­ter? So, for an in­stant hit, put on your favourite tunes and belt out your heart out at home!
