She ruined her future

-

QMy younger sister (32) has always had troubled relationships. Two years ago, she got engaged and I was relieved that she’d met someone decent. But now she’s had an affair and her fiancé has kicked her out. I’m told she’s now living with a man in his early 20s. What do I do?

ASeeing someone you love behave in ways that are damaging and hurtful is hard. You can try to talk sense to them but if they won’t let you in, you have to step back. Your sister is avoiding you because she knows how angry you are, but, in time, she will need you. This means being ready to be there for her when she finally gets in touch. Try not to let your anger build – she’s going to need support.
