Piers and Susanna: What’s really going on
Woman’s Own reveals the truth about the former GMB co-hosts’ rocky relationship...
When Piers Morgan stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain
and quit the show for good last month, it was clear his co-host Susanna Reid wasn’t happy.
After what Piers, 56, labelled a ‘frosty’ and ‘stony-faced’ statement from Susanna, the pair had a lengthy phone call and agreed to go for a boozy lunch together, but Woman’s Own can now exclusively reveal that Susanna is still ‘p **** d off’ at being left in the lurch.
Following his abrupt departure, Susanna, 50, said, ‘Piers and I have disagreed on many things, and that dynamic was one of the things viewers loved about the programme. He is without doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster.
‘You will know that I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview. It is certainly going to be very different, but shows go on and so on we go.’
Piers admitted he was surprised and disappointed by his former co-host’s words and joked that even his ex-wife and mother to his three sons, Marion Shalloe, ‘talks more fondly about me than that (and, in fact, did so in a very
supportive message).’
HARD FEELINGS
Now a source has exclusively revealed to Woman’s Own that, while the pair publicly claim they haven’t fallen out, there’s still tension there. ‘Susanna feels Piers has left her behind and that Piers is now basking in the limelight of the drama,’ our insider says. ‘You don’t just walk out on a partnership and she feels a little bit snubbed… She is p **** d off.’ But, despite her ill feelings, things are looking up for Susanna, as ITV bosses are reportedly planning to build the entire
Good Morning Britain show around her. ‘What ITV needs now, more than ever, are calm heads and someone to steady the ship,’ another source said. ‘Susanna has proven herself a consummate broadcaster for the past 10 years… She is smart, feisty and opinionated. She may have been Piers’ foil for the past five years, but she’s so much more than this – and now it’s very much a case of The Susanna Show.’
