WHY DOES WEIGHT AFFECT MY LIVER?
QLike so many people I gained weight during 2020 (my BMI is now 32). I know I need to deal with this so I decided to start with a check-up with my GP. Following blood tests, he tells me my liver is showing some strain, which he thinks may be related to my weight. How can that happen?
ACarrying excess weight can lead to fatty deposits in the liver affecting its efficiency. The good news is that you have made the decision to tackle your weight and the liver has amazing powers of regeneration. Your GP will want to repeat your bloods as your weight comes down and the results should improve.
