Feeling overwhelmed

In contrast, Lorraine is used to putting herself out there every day and, given that she has been a face of the pandemic, bringing the nation daily updates – good and bad – it’s no surprise that the tough year has affected her.

Making a statement that will surprise most who are used to hearing her infectious laugh and chatty tone, Lorraine admits she has suffered herself, saying, ‘I do have my moments when I’m not feeling positive.

‘And there have been times, especially during the pandemic, when I’ve felt totally overwhelmed and I’ve had those two-in-themorning moments.’ Lorraine also opened up about being separated from her daughter Rosie during the lockdown.

Although home now, journalist Rosie was in Singapore and unable to catch a flight home at the beginning of the pandemic.

‘When you’re living through such scary times, you want your child with you,’ Lorraine says. ‘Every mother will know what I’m saying – there’s just nothing like the smell of your child’s hair.’
