Finding comfort
It’s no wonder Lorraine struggled with being apart from her daughter, as she thanks her family, husband Steve Smith who she’s been married to since 1992, and 26-year-old Rosie, for always having her back.
Her close relationship with Rosie will be showcased on the duo’s new podcast, and the proud mum says she learns a lot from her daughter.
‘Everybody always goes on about what mothers teach their
daughters, but there’s a hell of a lot that your daughter can teach you as well,’ she says. It seems Lorraine has a clear mantra to treat others the way you wish to be treated – but, like the rest of us, she relies on loved ones for support. She adds, ‘I’ve got a very close support group – my husband and my daughter, who is far more sensible than I will ever be. I’ve got my parents, my best friends – I’ve got this tight-knit group. I don’t phone them at two in the morning, because that would be bad, but I know that I could, and there’s something very comforting about that.’
