Night sweats are causing misery
Q
I’m menopausal and I’m having a really tough time with night sweats. I haven’t had a good night’s sleep for months, which is starting to get me down. Both of my sisters have had breast cancer, so I really don’t want to take HRT. Is there anything non-hormonal that I could take that would help to alleviate the sweats?
A
There is an old-fashioned blood pressure drug called clonidine that I often try for women struggling with flushes and sweats, but who don’t want HRT. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s certainly worth a try. Just this week I saw a lady who said her sweats disappeared within days of starting clonidine.
