Sir Kenneth Branagh recalls his childhood growing up during the Troubles in this feast for the eyes. It follows Buddy (delightful newcomer Jude Hill) as he sees his imaginary world explode thanks to trips to the cinema and his real world implode as his parents (Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan) and grandparents (Dame Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds) try to protect him from the sectarian violence of 1969. A beautiful coming-of-age story that feels universal.
