It’s caused by acid irritating the stomach lining or throat, giving a burning sensation or a full, bloated feeling. It doesn’t require medical assistance unless the symptoms continue past three weeks. SORT IT ‘Ditch caffeinate­d or alcoholic drinks, and avoid rich, spicy or fatty foods,’ says Dr Williams. Don’t eat three to four hours before bed, as lying down can exacerbate reflux. Certain medication­s, like ibuprofen or aspirin, may also make indigestio­n worse.
