Since my husband died 20 years ago, I haven’t had sex. I have met a man, but when we tried to have sex, we couldn’t. I think my vagina has closed over. I had a look and it looks like the inner lips have stuck together. What can I do?

Make an appointment to see your GP, who will be able to confirm if the labia have fused. You may need some oestrogen cream and vaginal dilators. You start by using the smallest one and increase the size. If the fusion is more significant, you may need a gynaecologist to stretch the vagina under anaesthetic.
