Celebrities call for more openness
Lorraine Kelly wants more communication. ‘Women need to talk about it, and not just sit at home wondering what’s wrong with them.’ TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson was honest about the impact the menopause had on her mental health. ‘Depression has been a regular feature of my life…then came the most unimaginable anxiety. At one stage, I thought my head was going to explode.’ Golden Globe winner Gillian Anderson called for more acceptance. ‘Perimenopause and menopause should be treated as the rites of passage that they are. If not celebrated, then at least accepted and acknowledged and honoured.’
