Film THE DUKE Out 25 February

Jim Broadbent excels as real-life OAP Kempton Bunton, a campaigner for free TV licence fees for the elderly in this truth-is-stranger-than-fiction tale of the theft of Francisco de Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in 1961 – the only time the museum has ever been broken into. Helen Mirren also stars, while director Roger Michell recreates early 1960s Britain with fondness. A charming romp that recalls the verve of Ealing comedies.
