PRICE OF LOVE

-

Pre-pandemic the average cost of a wedding in the UK was £20,731. OK, it included the honeymoon but blimey that’s an awful lot of money.

Especially as a legal register office ceremony will set you back just £46.

Don’t panic if you can’t afford a flashy do though, because the secret to a long marriage is to keep the wedding cheap.

A new study by the Marriage Foundation has shown that nearly 10% of marriages that started with a wedding costing more than £20k broke down within three years – twice the overall divorce rate of 5%.

Love, honour and don’t pay!
