Suggestions include that husbands beat their wives ‘gently’ to discipline them for ‘unruly’ behaviour. She (for sadly it is a she, Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff) also adds that women wait for their husbands to be calm and relaxed before talking to them. In fact she goes on, ‘When we want to speak, ask for (his) permission first.’ Gobsmackingly, Siti’s main role is supposed to be upholding gender equality and the rights of women. Thinking she just missed the ‘wo’ bit of that last word…
