Green hair tips
Look for hair-product packaging that can be refilled or recycled.
Shampoo and conditioning bars have come a long way, and many are now as effective as they are environmentally friendly. Ditch plastic bottles and you’ll also save the water used to mix the product and the fuel needed to transport heavy containers.
Be choosy about brushes, ties and clips. Look for sustainable bamboo, natural rubber and non-synthetic bristles.
Green face tips
Consider this: the first face wipes you ever used are still in landfill somewhere, as they can take 100 years to break down. It’s even worse to flush them down the loo, with beaches blighted by washed-up wipes. Swap for a flannel and rinse.
Save water. A running tap wastes around six litres per minute, so turn it off when you’re lathering up.
Pumps, tubes, bottles and tubs all add to the problem. Solid cleansing bars have less packaging and last longer.
Save money and the planet by using less. A 5p-sized drop of moisturiser is enough to cover your face and neck.
Box clever – choose make-up palettes, lipstick cases and brushes that are made from sustainable materials.
