With Europe facing the biggest refugee crisis since World War Two and four million fleeing Ukraine, Brits are being asked to offer their spare rooms to those fleeing Russia’s invasion.

In Germany, families wait for refugees at train stations, holding placards saying they have spare rooms/houses for those escaping Russia’s invasion.

Would you do that? Polls show that most of us would if we could, but there is still a groundswell of those who worry about the creaking NHS and funding more benefits. Yes, there needs to be a debate about the details and logistics.

But not while kids are dying.
