How to… check your breasts
Ms Lucy Khan, consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon, shares her tips
FIND THE RIGHT TIME
‘The best time to check is often after a shower or a bath. Examine yourself at least once a month. It’s important to feel in different positions, including lying down.’
LOOK AS WELL AS TOUCH
‘Note any change in shape, size and differences to your nipples. Inspect the surface of your breasts up to your collarbones and across and under armpits. Check for rashes and dimpled skin.’
LEARN WHAT NORMAL FEELS LIKE
‘Regular checks ensure you’re more aware of how your breasts look and feel normally, and how they change during your cycle. If in doubt, see your GP.’
