My partner found a pea-sized lump on my inner lips during foreplay this week. It’s quite smooth and firm. Can you get cancer down there? I’m absolutely terrified. I’m only 40 and have a young family to think of.

You can get cancer on the labia, but it is rare, especially in women under 50 years old. Vulval cancer tends to cause itching or soreness, or raised thickened patches of skin, rather than a smooth lump. The most likely diagnosis here is a small cyst, but your doctor will want to examine you to be sure. You can ask to see a female doctor.
