‘GRACE AND I BOTH LOVE BRIGHTON’

The actor returns in ITV crime drama

- John Simm

Grace…

After making his debut as Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in a one-off episode last year, John Simm reprises the role in a new four-part series…

Based on the novels by Peter

James, the series follows Grace and

DS Glenn Branson (Richie Campbell) as they investigate crimes on the south coast, which this time include the suspicious death of a former schoolteacher and the murder of a wealthy socialite.

Meanwhile, romance is on the cards for the detective when he meets pathologist Cleo Morey (Zoe Tapper)…

‘He’s still haunted by the disappearance of his wife, Sandy, which is difficult for Chloe and it causes problems between them,’ says John. ‘It’s sweet to see him slowly fall for her.’

Grace also gets a shock when his boss ACC Alison Vosper (Rakie Ayola) suggests he takes a job transfer…

‘Grace is horrified,’ says John. ‘He loves Brighton and doesn’t want to move.’ The detective’s love of the seaside resort is something that John shares, because that’s where he lives with his wife Kate and their two kids! ‘It’s a brilliant place to be,’ says John. ‘We decided to move there before I got this job. We were looking for a house when I got the call and I couldn’t believe it. It was serendipity!’
