In an effort to keep down tourist numbers, major, er, tourist attraction­s like Venice and Snowdonia in north Wales, are considerin­g introducin­g ‘tourist taxes’. Which means if you’re not from the local area you pay an extra £10 or 10 euros to wander around. Critics say it will put people off going and lose money for businesses, while supporters say it will ease congestion and protect the environmen­t. Can see both sides but a tenner a head is a lot of money if you’re a large family. And why should only wealthier families experience the joys of our great outdoors and cities?
