TAXING FUN
In an effort to keep down tourist numbers, major, er, tourist attractions like Venice and Snowdonia in north Wales, are considering introducing ‘tourist taxes’. Which means if you’re not from the local area you pay an extra £10 or 10 euros to wander around. Critics say it will put people off going and lose money for businesses, while supporters say it will ease congestion and protect the environment. Can see both sides but a tenner a head is a lot of money if you’re a large family. And why should only wealthier families experience the joys of our great outdoors and cities?
