Overwhelmed by grief
Q
During the pandemic, my dad lost his job. We knew he had taken it badly but he was nearing retirement anyway. However, I don’t think my brother or I appreciated just how difficult things were for him, as Dad took his own life last spring. I’m utterly devastated and wracked with guilt. I don’t seem to be able to move on. Is this normal?
A
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Suicide often leaves friends and relatives questioning what more they could have done. You may find it useful to contact Suicide & Co – suicideandco.org. They’re a charity set up by two young women who also lost a parent to suicide and will be able to offer you the support you need.
