The sports bra is 45 years old this year and we bought 7.1 million of them last year, spending £72.3 million. Whether we wear them to do any sport or not is neither here nor there, is it? They’re comfy whatever your boob size. They really took off in the 70s, when jogging became fashionable. But did you know that the first modern version came from two blokes’ jockstraps sewn together? The pouches became cups and the waistbands a rib band with straps crossed in the back.
